After inital low-performing days on 11 and 12 August, not much was expected from both Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) and Raksha Bandhan (2022) on Saturday and Sunday and that’s exactly what has happened.
The Aamir Khan-starrer earned Rs8.75 crore nett and Rs10.25 crore nett respectively on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Akshay Kumar-starrer made Rs5.75 crore nett and Rs7.25 crore nett on the two days, as per figures shared by the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The four-day total of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan currently stands at Rs37.75 crore nett and Rs27.25 crore nett respectively. Although Aamir’s film has scored over Akshay’s, it doesn’t really mean much since it is made at a cost of around Rs180 crore. The cost of Raksha Bandhan, on the other hand, is around Rs70 crore.
The four-day business of both the films is much lower than the initial three-day total of Kartik Aaryan-starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), which was Rs54.50 crore nett, when it released in late May.
Meanwhile, Laal Singh Chaddha has performed decently oversees in its first four days. The film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh, clocked $4.15 million [around 33 crore] for its opening weekend, as per BoxOfficeIndia.com. The publication also said that although the number isn’t terrible, there were more expectations from a big-budget film starring Aamir.
