The song ‘Chandra’ from Chandramukhi, which was released at the end of last month, was about Amruta Khanvilkar’s character performing a private lavni number for her lover, politician Daulatrao, played by Addinath Kothare.

The latest song from the film, ‘Tu Chand Rati’, is an out-and-out romantic number that portrays the deep love they share.

It’s a slow and smooth-flowing love song in which the world stands still for Chandramukhi and Daulatrao. The location and the night visuals are ideal for this sort of old-school romantic track.

‘Tu Chand Rati’ has Shreya Ghoshal’s stamp all over it. She had also given her voice to the song ‘Chandra’, which was very different from this number. Composer duo Ajay-Atul, known mostly for foot-tapping and overwhelming numbers, provide a gentle, soothing tune here. Guru Thakur’s poetry is ideal for such a slow, romantic number.

It is in this song that the chemistry between Khanvilkar and Kothare is seen the most through the intense portrayal of the romance between their characters. Both appear promising in their respective roles.

Chandramukhi is adapted from author Vishwas Patil’s Marathi novel of the same name. Directed by Prasad Oak, the film is set to be released in theatres on 29 April.
