The latest web-series Guilty Minds (2022), directed by Shefali Bhushan and Jayant Digambar Somalkar, takes you inside the cutthroat legal world where former law school classmates are now professional rivals.
Shriya Pilgaonkar is Kashaf Quaze, an idealistic public defender, while Deepak Rana (Varun Mitra) is usually her adversary, representing big corporations. Though the two seem to be close outside the courtroom, they mostly argue about ethical and moral points while representing their respective clients.
The series follows them on a number of cases until a big one threatens to ruin their relationship. The case involves Kashaf’s father, justice Quaze, who is hearing a case where Deepak is the prosecutor and ends up getting death threats.
Besides Namrata Sheth, Sugandha Garg and Pranay Pachauri, who play Kashaf and Deepak’s colleagues, Guilty Minds features several familiar faces that pop up in the trailer, including Satish Kaushik, Shakti Kapoor, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, Girish Kulkarni, Benjamin Gilani and Karishma Tanna.
While this is not the first legal web-series, nor is it one featuring a female protagonist — Voot Select’s Illegal comes to mind — the issues that the two young lawyers argue are challenging and interesting for now.
Guilty Minds will be premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 22 April.
