Divya Dutta's Punjabi-language feature, Maa, will be released in theatres on 6 May, ahead of International Mother's Day. She plays the titular character in the film, which stars Gippy Grewal as her son.
Directed by Baljeet Singh Deo and written by Rana Ranbir, Maa also stars Gurpreet Ghuggi, Babbal Rai, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Vadda Grewal, Raghveer Boli and Arushi Sharma.
The recently released teaser of the film shows the love that the mother has for her children. An aged Dutta is also seen driving a tractor in a green field in a shot.
Dutta reveals that she learned to operate a tractor while shooting for the film and there weren’t any duplicates used for the action scenes either. Having spent her childhood in a small town, the actress recalls having delightful afternoons sitting beside her uncle on a tractor while she was a child.
When asked about her experience of learning how to drive the heavy vehicle, she said, ”Once I got the hang of it, I was like in and out of the village, doing all the action sequences, speeding up the tractor. It was a brilliant experience. I felt very close to my homeland."
