K Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of RRR and father of the film’s director SS Rajamouli, recently hinted at a possible sequel to the blockbuster.
But now, the film’s core team — Rajamouli and actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR — have also expressed interest in making RRR 2.
At the success party of the film last night in Mumbai, Jr NTR, when asked whether there would be a sequel to the film, said, “I was talking to some journalists and I don’t know how I said, ‘RRR franchise’. Hopefully, it should become true and he should make RRR 2. We are anyways ready. Even if he calls us to shoot [RRR 2] tomorrow, we will go,” he said.
Ram Charan added, “Firstly, I am so happy and glad that RRR released amidst COVID [laughs]. Of course, we all would be delighted again if Rajamouli sir thinks of RRR 2. I hope your wish comes true.”
When the question was posed to the filmmaker himself, he didn’t outright dismiss the possibility of a sequel — like he did when asked about the third film in the Baahubali series back in 2017.
“They [Ram Charan and Jr NTR] got out of RRR pretty quickly,” said Rajamouli. “I am still trying to cool off from the heat generated from RRR. Let it cool down. Of course, for me, it would be a great pleasure to make RRR 2, not because of what RRR has done at the box office but because I will have more time to spend with my brothers. That would be more exciting for me.”
