Shooting for Vishu on an island in Malvan was fun, say Gashmeer Mahajani, Mrinmayee Godbole

One of the highlights of the trailer for the Gashmeer Mahajani- and Mrinmayee Godbole-starrer Marathi movie Vishu (2022) is the location. It is one of those rare films to have been shot on an island in the Malvan region of Maharashtra.

Mahajani’s character Vishu belongs to this region and is quite proud of it. In a scene in the trailer, when someone asks him where is Malvan, he replies that it’s in his heart.

But the makers have revealed that shooting in such beautiful locations came with its own set of challenges, the biggest being network coverage for mobile phones and other gadgets. 

Speaking about their experience of shooting in Malvan, Mahajani and Godbole said in a joint statement, “We experienced a different sort of fun while shooting in Malvan. To work in such a naturally beautiful environment adds to your enthusiasm. We had to reach the location by boat daily and we never got tired of this. We did face some technical issues quite a few times, but they appeared negligible in front of this magnificent island. The audience will also fall in love with this island while watching the film.”

Director Mayur Shinde added, “There are a lot of beautiful locations in Maharashtra and we chose one such to shoot our film. The audience will be exposed to the beauty of Malvan through this film. This is a love story that will appear more pleasant because of the location.”

Also starring Aetasha Sansgiri, Manasi Mohile, Milind Pathak, Vijay Nikam, Sanjay Gurubakshani and Pradnesh Dingorkar, Vishu will be released in theatres on 8 April.
