Mahaveeryar teaser: Nivin Pauly is a mysterious sage in this intriguing fantasy drama

Mahaveeryar, a highly anticipated Malayalam project that marks the reunion of renowned actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine, is an intriguing fantasy drama. The one-and-half-minute teaser hints that the film will also explore some time travel and some legal proceedings. 

The teaser, which is just a collection of some unrelated shots features the courtyard of a palace, a horse rider whose character is perhaps played by Asif Ali, and some beautiful shots of a desert. Nivin Pauly appears in the get up of a sage. The shots are intercut with a brief scene featuring court proceedings in the modern era with some police officers, hinting at a time travel aspect also.  

The teaser gives you an idea about the film's scale and beautiful visual style with some pleasing imagery of dusk and dawn and moonlit silhouettes, but at the same time leaves you wanting more 

The cast also includes Lal, Lalu Alex, Siddique, Mallika Sukumaran, Krishna Prasad, Shanvi Srivastava, Vijay Menon, Major Ravi and Prajod Kalabhavan.

The drama, which marks the third collaboration between Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine after the commercially and critically acclaimed movies 1983 (2014) and Action Hero Biju (2016), is adapted from a story by renowned author M Mukundan. 

The film has been jointly produced by Nivin Pauly, under his home banner Pauly Jr Pictures, and PS Shamnas, under the banner Indian Movie Makers.
