Paying a tribute to mothers, Maa, the Punjabi-language feature starring Divya Dutta and Gippy Grewal, will be released theatrically on 6 May, in time for International Mother's Day on 8 May.
A new poster for the film was released recently with a tagline which translates to ‘mother is the form of god on earth’.
Divya Dutta plays the titular character, the mother of Gippy Grewal's character in the film. The teaser shows her chasing a young boy to thrash him, but as soon as she thinks her son has been injured, she forgets her anger and rushes to his aid. Then we realize he was only teasing his mother. In the next shot, a visibly aged Dutta is driving a tractor in a lush green field. The boy also asks his mother if god’s mother is as beautiful as she is, highlighting the love the two share.
Dutta had earlier shared the poster on Twitter, writing, “A role completely different from what I’ve done before. The title role of the most precious word ever.Ma.”

This time we will present the audience with the biggest reality and a story that has never been done before and we hope everyone will love it."
The film is directed by Baljeet Singh Deo and written by Rana Ranbir. The film also stars Gurpreet Ghuggi, Babbal Rai, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Vadda Grewal, Raghveer Boli and Arushi Sharma.
