Runway 34 song ‘Mitra Re’: This Arijit Singh, Jasleen Royal duet is soulful

The first song from the Ajay Devgn-helmed Runway 34 (2022), ‘Mitra Re’, is a lilting and melodic composition by Jasleen Royal, who also takes the mike in this duet. The soothing combination of her vocals and those of Arijit Singh adds a soulful touch.

The singers’ vocals complement each another, and the song ‘Mitra Re’ is a hopeful, optimistic number about making it out in one piece on the other side. Aditya Sharma’s lyrics are backed by Royal’s music, which gives you a feeling of joy.

But on the flip side, the visuals from the film, which accompany that song, appear disjointed, especially the portions featuring the cast and crew mid-air. The scenes featuring Devgn as captain Vikrant Khanna after an accident, trying to atone for whatever happened fare better.

While the scenes show Khanna’s personal and professional turmoil in the aftermath, the song works better as a standalone piece for now. The video ends with Devgn’s Khanna solemnly stating, “You know something, I really did try my best.”

Produced by Ajay Devgn Ffilms, Runway 34  has been produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Vikrant Sharma, Sandeep Harish Kewlani, Tarlok Singh Jethi, Hasnain Husaini and Jay Kanujia.

The thriller also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Boman Irani and Angira Dhar. Runway 34 is due to be released in theatres on Eid, 29 April.
