Kedar Shinde's Jatra, which was released in 2006, has had a huge influence on Marathi pop culture. Now, after 16 years, Shinde announced Jatra 2 on Facebook.

On the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa, the filmmaker posted a video on the platform.

From the motion poster, it looks like the film is set in England.

The sequel will feature the same cast as the first film — Bharat Jadhav, Siddharth Jadhav, Kushal Badrike, Sanjay Khapare and Ramesh Vani. Although the makers haven't unveiled the name of the female lead.

Jatra 2 will be produced by Swati Khopkar and Bela Shinde. The film's score will be composed by Ajay-Atul, who had also written the music for the first film.

Jatra, which became a cultural phenomenon in Maharashtra, especially because of its music, revolves around a few unemployed friends and two rival villages called Hyaalagad and Tyaalagaad, which hold an annual religious fair.

Shinde is awaiting the release of his next directorial venture Baipan Bhari Deva, which has six female protagonists.
