The motion poster of director Shashant Shah’s Operation Romeo indicated that the film deals with the subject of moral policing. The trailer, however, reveals that there is more to the film. It is also now known that Operation Romeo is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie Ishq (2019).
Operation Romeo revolves around young lovers, played by Sidhant Gupta and Vedika Pinto. While on a date they get intimate in a car. Two evil cops (Sharad Kelkar and Kishore Kadam) arrive and start filming the couple. This is just the start of the nightmare for the lovers.
The police also extort the young man, threatening to release the video. When Sidhant's character returns from the ATM with the money, he realizes that Kelkar’s character and his girlfriend were alone in the car. The cops leave after taking the money. But this gives rise to a new twist as the possessive boyfriend wants to know what happened in the vehicle.
Operation Romeo appears appealing and it succeeds in sending a chill down your spine. All four actors are convincing. We also get a glimpse of Bhumika Chawla.
It is noticeable how the film gradually takes a different route once the boyfriend’s obsession takes centre stage and this piques your interest.
Produced by Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia’s Friday Filmworks and Reliance Entertainment, Operation Romeo will be released in theatres on 22 April.
