Box office: Heropanti 2 and Runway 34 open poorly

The Hindi version of the Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 performed well even on its third Friday.

The Tiger Shroff-starrer Heropanti 2 has had a lacklustre opening, which is surprising for a film starring the action hero. The Ahmed Khan film made Rs6.50 crore nett yesterday, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Heropanti 2 review: Tiger Shroff goes on warpath again but collateral damage includes viewers

There wasn’t much excitement or anticipation for the film, unlike Shroff's previous movies. The trailer, especially, didn’t receive a good response. The opening number of Heropanti 2 is way lower than that of the actor’s last film, Baaghi 3 (2020), which raked in Rs17.34 crore on its first day.

According to sources, Heropanti 2 was made on a budget of Rs70 crore and needs a massive shot in the arm to stay in the box office race.

Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34, which was also released yesterday, has fared even worse. The film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh, opened with a mere Rs3 crore. There was not much buzz surrounding this film too.

Runway 34 review: This star-studded vehicle makes a shaky landing

The budget of Runway 34, as per sources, is Rs65 crore. The film needs a miracle to bounce back.

Meanwhile, the Hindi version of the Yash juggernaut KGF: Chapter 2 performed well even on its third Friday, amassing Rs4 crore. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film’s grand total in the language stands at a mammoth Rs344.50 crore.
