The Hindi version of director Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) has had a very good second week. After an excellent second weekend, the collections of the Yash-starrer did not fall greatly on the weekdays, remaining in the Rs6 crore to Rs7 crore range.
KGF: Chapter 2 thus collected Rs77.75 crore nett in the second week, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film’s grand total in the language now stands at a mammoth Rs341.50 crore. The film is now set to overtake the lifetime collection of the highest grossing Hindi film Dangal (2016). The Aamir Khan-starrer had done a lifetime business of Rs374.53 crore nett in India.
Chaluve Gowda, partner and co-founder of Hombale Films, which produced KGF: Chapter 1 (2018) as well as KGF: Chapter 2, reacted with a statement: 'We are overwhelmed and humbled by the unwavering support and encouragement we have been receiving from every corner of the world. The feeling is still to sink in, as we have waited long for this to happen. We wish to carry this momentum forward and make an indelible mark on the global scale with our movies. Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has been part of this thrilling journey with us. Much grateful to all of you!'
The KGF producers may be secretly pleased to know that the two new Hindi films released today, Heropanti 2 (2022) and Runway 34 (2022), made poor starts at least till early afternoon. Of the two, Heropanti 2 did better but its attendance was thin nonetheless.
