Streaming giant Amazon Prime Video has announced 41 upcoming Indian titles, including 22 fresh web-series, at a grand event that was held on the premises of a five-star hotel in Mumbai.
The star-studded extravaganza, which resembled a grand awards function, saw Madhuri Dixit shake a leg to a song from her upcoming movie Maja Maa and Rohit Shetty arriving on stage in a police vehicle for his first web-series Indian Police Force; both of which will be premiered on the digital platform.
Tumbbad (2018) filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve’s keenly awaited next project, Gulkanda Tales, was among the projects that were announced. It stars Kunal Kemmu, Pankaj Tripathi and Patralekha.
Another new show whose announcement made heads turn was Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee. It depicts the Hindi film industry as it was when India just achieved independence. The show has an interesting cast of Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Director Gauravv Chawla and Ananya Banerjee are coming up with a supernatural show called Adhura which is based in a boarding school. Ishwak Singh and Rasika Dugal, the OTT specialists, are headlining the series.
Artistes Kay Kay Menon, Kritika Kamra, Avinash Tiwary and Amyra Dastur have teamed up for Excel Media and Entertainment’s Bambai Meri Jaan. The show, which deals with organized crime in post-independent India, is being directed by Shujaat Saudagar and has been created by him and Rensil D’Silva.
