Actor Vijay, who was recently seen in the Tamil invasion thriller Beast, hosted a dinner party for the team behind the movie at his residence on Sunday evening.

Director Nelson took to Twitter to thank Vijay for the fun-filled and memorable evening.

Beast, a Die-Hard inspired thriller, was released in cinemas on 13 April and has grossed over Rs200 crore, despite garnering mostly mixed and negative reviews.

The film saw the actor play a RAW officer who must foil a terror strike on a mall.

Nelson took to Twitter to share a note anda picture from the party.

The filmmaker’s note read, “Thank you Vijay sir for hosting us. It was a fun-filled and memorable evening with the whole team. I take this moment to thank Vijay sir for his love and support. You were a charm to work with sir. I am truly honoured & I shall cherish this experience for life. Your charisma and superstardom have taken this film all the way, sir (sic).”

Nelson also went to thank his producers and cast and crew of the movie.

Beast is the fifth Vijay-starrer that is in the Rs200 crore club after Mersal (2017), Sarkar (2018), Bigil (2019) and Master (2021).

The film was dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam. The Hindi version turned out to be a dud, earning a mere Rs50 lakh on its first day of release.

Beast marks the maiden collaboration between Nelson and Vijay. The former rose to fame with his Tamil crime comedy Kolamavu Kokila (2018), which starred Nayanthara as a local drug peddler. His last release was Tamil dark comedy Doctor (2021), in which Sivakarthikeyan takes on a local human trafficking gang.
