Jayeshbhai Jordaar song ‘Firecracker’: Vishal-Sheykhar take the mike in this spirited ode to women

Ranveer Singh is awkward and adorable in this peppy composition by the iconic duo.

Sonal Pandya

The first song from the Ranveer Singh-starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar — ‘Firecracker’ — is quite unexpected. The actor stars as Yash Raj Films production's titular character — a man who has to protect his wife and unborn daughter from his sexist parents, who wish for a grandson to carry forward the family legacy.

Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, who have composed and sung the track, create a new flavour with the song. ‘Firecracker’ has a mix of English and Hindi by Kumaar and Vayu. And the result is a typical number for a story with a Gujarati setting.

Ranveer Singh makes it work as the lone male in the crowd of women. He is both awkward and adorable as he sings about the ‘firecracker’ in his life. Ruel Dausan Varindani’s choreography gives the actor some goofy ‘uncle’ moves, which Singh pulls off with ease. Singh as Jayeshbhai is completely in his element as he joyfully dances amongst women of all ages.

Also starring Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Jia Vaidya, Jayeshbhair Jordaar has been written and directed by Divyang Thakkar. Produced by Maneesh Sharma, the film is due to release theatrically on 13 May.
