The music album of Rajdeep Ghosh’s debut feature film Kolkata’r Harry was launched at Eco Park, Kolkata on 16 April in the presence of the director, cast and crew.
Backed by Soham Chakraborty’s banner, Soham’s Entertainment, the film stars Priyanka Sarkar, Oishika Guhathakurta and the actor-producer himself. Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee also makes a cameo in the film.
The music of the film has been composed by Jeet Gannguli while Rohit Soumya has penned the lyrics.
The Kolkata’r Harry album comprises five songs. 'Ei Amader Captain Magic Jane' features vocals by Chakraborty, who plays Haripada Patra aka Harry in the film. Harry works as a driver for a convent school, but his real skill lies in performing magic tricks for kids and telling fantastical tales.
The composer himself has sung the song 'Hothat Mone Brishti', while the legendary Usha Uthup has lent her voice for 'Phire Takao' and Nikita Gandhi has sung 'Tara Khosha Raat'.
“Music plays an important role in life. In joy and sorrow, music gives solace. Similarly, while telling stories, music becomes an important tool,” said the director. “Music has added to the beauty of Kolkatar’r Harry’s storyline, and I cannot thank Jeet Gannguli enough for the contribution.”
Kolkata'r Harry also tells the beautiful story of the friendship between Harry and Titli (Guhathakurta), a 10-year-old student from the same school he works for.
According to Ghosh, Kolkata’r Harry has made his dream come true. “Usha Uthup, who I have idolized since my childhood has lent her voice to the film. Also, Rupankar Da (Bagchi), Nikita Gandhi, Jeet Da, and Soham have sung for the film. I hope the songs will be loved by our audience as Jeet Da created all the songs with exceptional dedication and love” added the director.
Gannguli is happy that after a long time a children’s film is coming to the silver screen. “This is Soham’s first project, and I am so glad that he has taken the initiative to tell a story for the children” added the composer.
Singer Rupankar Bagchi has sung the song 'Sohor Achhe Ekta Buro'. He said he loved the concept of the film. The vocalist stated, "Jeet is my childhood buddy. When he achieves success, it feels like my own success. People around the world are listening to him now.
“The song I have sung is simply wonderful and I have got great satisfaction with the collaboration. I am sure the listeners will love the song too."
Chakraborty said, “As the release date is approaching, I am getting nervous. At the same time, I can also see, how people have been responding to our events and songs, which is increasing our confidence. I request everyone to watch the film, which will take the adult audience back to their childhood and young viewers to a dream world.”
Kolkata’r Harry is slated to be released in theatres on 6 May.
