Shriya Pilgaonkar and Varun Mitra play close friends and rival lawyers in Amazon Prime Video’s legal drama Guilty Minds. The show’s director, Shefali Bhushan, says that they had to audition a lot of people before zeroing in on Pilgaonkar for the role of Kashaf Quaze.

Sharing her experience, Bhushan said in a statement, “We had auditioned a lot of people and despite receiving a lot of good responses we still hadn't found the absolute right cast for Kashaf Quaze. Along with being very articulate, this character had to have shades of deep emotions.”

She added, “While Shriya was auditioning for the role, we realized that not only is she a fine actress but she also has a great screen presence. She could delve into the emotional graph that the character requires and was very effective while arguing as Kashaf!”

Guilty Minds also sees Pranay Pachauri play a lawyer. Sharing his experience, he had recently said, “My maternal and paternal grandparents are lawyers, and law seems to be pretty much in my genes; it felt close to home. It was equally challenging yet fun to play this character on screen. I did to some extent grow up in a family surrounded by lawyers, so I was well acquainted with the mannerisms.”

Also starring Satish Kaushik, Namrata Sheth and Sugandha Garg, Guilty Minds will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 22 April.
