Jayasurya plays the role of a police officer with hearing impairment who is trying to solve the mystery behind a road accident and missing person cases in the upcoming Malayalam investigative thriller John Luther (2022).
The trailer for the film is immediately gripping with beautiful imagery, especially during the night scenes. It begins with a road accident on a rainy night. Jayasurya's police officer is called upon to investigate the case.
Soon three more people go missing and Jayasurya begins to wonder if there is something more to the matter than meets the eye. Later, he is attacked by a stranger and becomes deaf in the right ear.
The trailer has been cut quite smartly and does a good job of building up the hype around the film without giving away anything significant about the plot. For the first minute, the trailer comes across as a murder mystery, but it slowly moves into darker territory with some psychological thriller elements.
Another thing that immediately captures your attention is the beautiful cinematography by Roby Varghese Raj, who cranked the camera for movies like Puthiya Niyamam (2016), The Great Father (2017) and Captain (2018),
Written and directed by first-time filmmaker Abhijith Joseph, the investigative thriller also stars Siddique, Drishya Raghunath, Deepak Parambol and Athmiya Rajan.
John Luther has been produced by Thomas P Mathew and co-produced by Christeena Thomas. The makers are yet to announce the release date for the film.
