Maanavi Bedi’s Amazon miniTV short film 1800 LIFE will be premiered on 22 April.
Starring Divyenndu Sharma and Shruthy Menon, the thriller has been produced by Guneet Monga and Achin Jain under the banner of Sikhya Entertainment. The streaming date was announced with the trailer of the short film.
The tech drama is all about the camouflaged aspects of technology that are part of almost every aspect of daily life. The short tells the story of Vishal Mattu, a comedian, who is depressed and dejected with his happy life turning dark and decides to end things. However, just when he is about to take the final step, he receives a call that turns his life upside down.
The trailer begins with Vishal preparing to end his life, standing on the edge of a terrace. However, right before he takes a step ahead, a call from a stranger stops him. Vishal wants to disconnect but the familiarity with which the female voice addresses him leaves him puzzled.
The woman shocks him further by revealing her knowledge regarding certain incidents Vishal had to endure the previous night. Vishal freaks out. He calls life a joke and death its punchline, while the voice dramatically keeps him engaged by talking about the beautiful night. In the end, he turns desperate to know the identity of the caller, but the latter, with a calm voice, proposes that he talk about his life in detail, instead of focusing on who she is.
According to Monga, the gripping and imaginative story, and the direction by Bedi will take the viewers into the amusing world of a struggling stand-up comedian, making 1800 LIFE one of the most relevant stories of contemporary times.
“Known for our disruptive storytelling, Sikhya is excited to associate with Amazon miniTV as a home for compelling stories and performances, which viewers across India can enjoy for free. Brought to life by the enigmatic Divyenndu and written and directed by Maanavi Bedi, we are all eagerly awaiting the premiere of the movie on Amazon miniTV on 22 April,” she said.
Girish Prabhu, head of Amazon Advertising, said that the team could not have asked for a better combination than a service like Amazon miniTV, storytellers Sikhya Entertainment and the critically acclaimed actor Divyenndu to narrate such an exciting story. “This story will not only entertain our viewers across India but also make them think about the impact that technology has in our lives,” he added.
