Jhund review: Nagraj Manjule makes a profound statement about the overlooked India
Based on the life of Vijay Barse, founder of the organization Slum Soccer, the film brings to the fore the struggle of the slum dweller to achieve his dream.
Apart from Bachchan, who played Barse, the film also starred Ankush Gedam, Chhaya Kadam, Sayali Patil, Akash Thosar, Rinku Rajguru and Tanaji Galgunde.
Speaking about the film's digital premiere, Manish Kalra, chief business officer, Zee5 India, said, "Jhund is based on a real-life story, which is inspiring and sends a powerful message to our youth. The stories right from the heartlands resonate with audiences and I am happy to bring it exclusively to our Zee5 audiences. The roster for the next few months is strong and we are hopeful Jhund will drive in much love and appreciation from the audiences.”
Stating that Jhund has a strong and moving narrative, Manjule said, "Amit ji along with the kids literally put life in the characters. After receiving much love from the audiences, I am glad that now people will get to watch it over and over again with its digital release on Zee5.”
Producer Bhushan Kumar is also glad that audiences across the world will get an opportunity to watch the drama. " A film that has garnered a lot of applause and appreciation across the nation is all set to make its digital premiere on Zee5.
