Mandakini to make comeback after a quarter century through a music video


The actress is best remembered for her debut film, Raj Kapoor's Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), opposite the filmmaker's son Rajiv Kapoor.

Yesteryear actress Mandakini, who is best known for her role in her debut film, Raj Kapoor’s Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), is making a comeback after close to 30 years. But this will be in a music video, ‘Maa O Maa’.

The song is sung by Rishabh Giri. Babli Haque and Meera have composed the music while the lyrics have been penned by Sajan Agarwal.

Mandakini will shoot for the music video at the end of this month. Her son Rabbil Thakur will also be seen in the video. Agarwal himself will direct the video.

Speaking about her association with the song, Mandakini said in a statement, “I'm very happy to associate with director Sajan Agarwalji. I have known him for a long time, but finally we are working together.

"'Maa O Maa’ is a beautiful song and I instantly fell in love with it. The best part of this song is that my son is playing the lead. At the end of this month, we will start with the shooting of this song.”

Agarwal added, “I’m very happy Mandakiniji is making her comeback through my video ‘Maa O Maa’. Working with her is like a dream come true. She is a legendary actress and I'm sure this will be a great association with her and Rabbil Thakur.”

After Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Mandakini acted in several films through the 1980s and 1990s. She was last seen on the big screen in Zordaar (1996).
