Rohit Shetty’s cop universe goes digital with Amazon Prime Video’s Indian Police Force

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has joined hands with Amazon Prime Video for his digital debut, titled Indian Police Force. It will be an eight-episode cop drama web-series starring Sidharth Malhotra.

With this, Shetty’s cop universe is set to go digital. The universe contains big-ticket films made by the filmmaker in the past in the form of Singham (2011), Singham Returns (2014), Simmba (2018) and Sooryavanshi (2021). 

Through Indian Police Force, Shetty will set his story in the Delhi police for the first time. All his police films have been based in Maharashtra.

Shetty made the announcement through a video that creatively shows the sets and the team behind the show. The visuals of the uniform and the walkie-talkies stand out. Malhotra, as expected, makes a grand entry through a visual of fire.

Shetty said the concept for the show did not come to him recently. “Indian Police Force is a very special one for me and I have been working on it for years," he said in a statement. "I am delighted to be collaborating with Amazon Prime Video to breathe life into this story which will transcend geographies and linguistic barriers, providing me an opportunity to showcase the same to audiences worldwide.

"I am super excited to be working with the amazingly talented Sidharth Malhotra in this series. I have always strived to push the envelope of action-first entertainment and with this series I am confident we will create a new benchmark.”

The web-series is now in production.
