Box office – Attack: Part 1 has a poor opening as RRR's powerful run continues

The John Abraham-starrer sci-fi action flick faces an uphill task on its very first weekend.

The John Abraham-starrer Attack: Part 1 (2022) had a poor opening yesterday. The debut vehicle of director Lakshya Raj Anand could only collect Rs3.25 crore nett, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Also starring Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj and Jacqueline Fernandez, the film, according to trade sources, was made on a budget of around Rs55 crore. With the kind of opening it has got, the film faces an uphill task to get to that number. The movie will need a massive jump today and tomorrow.

Attack's task is not made any easier by the powerful run of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR (2022), which refuses to slow down in its second week. On its second Friday, the film's Hindi version made an impressive Rs13.25 crore nett. Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the Hindi version has so far earned an impressive Rs144.75 crore and looks good to do more on the second weekend.

RRR is now fifth in the list of Hindi films by box-office collection on the second Friday. The spot was earlier occupied by Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), which had made Rs12.56 crore on its second Friday in cinemas almost seven years ago.

The top film in the list is the recently released The Kashmir Files (2022), which made Rs19.92 crore on its second Friday. The film earned Rs1.50 crore nett yesterday on its fourth Friday. Its grand total stands at a mammoth Rs234.32 crore, with a fair bit of assistance from Bharatiya Janata Party politicians.
