Huma Qureshi to play lead role in Tarla Dalal biopic; see poster

Actress Huma Qureshi is set to play the lead role in the biopic of popular chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal. Titled Tarla, the biopic, which is being helmed by Piyush Gupta, went on the floors this week. 

The actress announced the project by sharing the quirky poster on social media. The poster features Huma in character surrounded by typical Indian cooking ingredients. 

We have seen films based on the lives of sports personalities, all kinds of artistes, revolutionaries and even social reformers but this is for the first time a biopic is being made on a chef. 

Tarla Dalal is a household name for most people in India. She published her first cookbook, The Pleasures of Vegetarian Cooking, in 1974. She went on to write more than 100 similar works and sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Tarla is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala of UTV along with Nitesh and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. 

Huma will also be seen in Monica, O My Darling (2022), Double XL (2022) and Freedom (2022).
