Prabhas’s highly anticipated Radhe Shyam failed to live up to the expectations and ended up as a colossal flop. In an interview, he has finally opened up about the failure of the project and he said maybe people didn’t want to watch him in romantic roles.
Prabhas has built his career playing larger-than-life characters in commercial films. From Chatrapathi (2005) to Mirchi (2013) and Baahubali (2015), audiences have loved watching him play these testosterone-fueled characters that scream masculinity.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Prabhas, when asked about the reason behind the film's lacklustre performance, said, “Maybe COVID or maybe we missed something in the script. You people know better. Maybe people don’t want to watch me in that zone, even if they want to watch... maybe they expect me to be too good.”
At the end of its theatrical run, Radhe Shyam is said to have grossed Rs140 crore worldwide. Made on a budget of over Rs200 crore, the movie saw the actor play a renowned palmist.
The box office tracking portal AndhraBoxOffice.com termed the film a double disaster.
#RadheShyam crashed after the 1st Weekend at the BoxOffice and never recovered again to make an impact. More or less closing WW Gross Including All Languages is ₹140 Cr Approx. A Huge Double Disaster.

It’s worth mentioning that the film’s makers had claimed that Radhe Shyam grossed Rs151 crore on its opening weekend. They even released a poster to this effect, despite the film garnering mixed response from audiences and critics alike.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala had shared the poster on Twitter.
A phenomenal response for #RadheShyam on the big screen with ₹ 151 cr gross in 3 days worldwide.#BlockBusterRadheShyam ❤️
