Not worried about Runway 34 clashing with Heropanti 2: Ajay Devgn

The actor-filmmaker stated that both films are fundamentally different and have dissimilar target audiences.

Ajay Devgn is no stranger to box office clashes. After all, his films Son Of Sardaar (2012), Shivaay (2016), Golmaal Again (2017) and Tanhaji (2020) were released alongside Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), Secret Superstar (2017) and Chhapaak (2020) respectively.

Devgn's third directorial venture, Runway 34 — which stars the actor himself as well as Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh — will arrive in theatres on 29 April, the same day as the Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria-starrer Heropanti 2.

But the veteran actor, who is also the producer of the film, is unperturbed. "The reason I'm not worried about this clash is that I don't even consider it a clash because these are two completely different films altogether," the artiste said during a recent media interaction.

"Heropanti 2 is a complete mass action film whereas mine is of a completely different genre so they have a different target audience. So it's wrong to call it a clash. In fact, we even spoke with them also and we are all supporting each other. Runway 34 is not your big-scale action film which has all the typical commercial factors; it's of a genre that hasn't been explored in Hindi cinema before and this genre has a particular audience," he added.

Speaking about the maker's expectations in terms of box office figures, Devgn added, "I haven't set a particular number as the final goal. It's a completely new genre for our audience, so let's see how they react."
