The Hindi version of director Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 2 has had a tremendous long first weekend. The Yash-starrer amassed Rs190.50 crore nett in its first four days in cinemas, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
After breaking the record on Thursday for highest opening by a film in Hindi with Rs52.50 crore nett, KGF: Chapter 2 made collections of Rs45.50 crore, Rs42.50 crore and Rs50 crore, respectively, in the next three days.
To come so close to the Rs200 crore mark in just four days in theatres must count as an extraordinary achievement. But the performance isn't surprising given the incredible interest in the film as evidenced by the advance booking before its release. If the film holds well today on its first working day, it will be certain to break a few more records on its way to becoming a blockbuster hit.
Despite the KGF: Chapter 2 juggernaut, the winning streak of the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s Roudram Ranam Rudhiram aka RRR (2022) continued. In its fourth weekend, the film made an impressive Rs9.75 crore nett, taking its total collection to Rs251.22 crore.
RRR, starring Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr was helped to an extent by the total failure of the Hindi version of the Vijay-starrer Beast (2022). The movie made a paltry Rs1.75 crore in its five-day first weekend in this language. Beast was released on 13 April, a day ahead of KGF: Chapter 2.
