Aparajito teaser: Brings to screen Satyajit Ray's inspiring journey of making Pather Panchali

Directed by Anik Dutta, the film stars Jeetu Kamal as Aparajito Ray, a fictionalized version of the great filmmaker.

Anik Dutta’s upcoming film Aparajito (2022) is a tribute to Satyajit Ray’s journey of making his maiden film Pather Panchali (1955).

The teaser for the film shows how the director has attempted to blend Ray’s journey with some of the iconic frames recreated from his classic creation.

In Aparajito, Jeetu Kamal plays Aparajito Ray, a fictionalized characterisation of Ray, while Saayoni Ghosh will be seen as Bimola, inspired from Ray’s wife Bijoya. Aparajito makes his debut film Pather Padaboli, which changes the course of Bengali cinema forever.

While Dutta has already raised expectations with Kamal’s look that bears a striking similarity with Ray, it will be interesting see how he has delineated the director’s journey of making his first film, with all its setbacks and accomplishments, which makes it an inspiring story in itself.

The teaser also offers glimpses of the film being received with unprecedented accolades by cinema lovers and critics on the international stage. It ends with a visual of Aparajito being praised and greeted at the beginning of an interview.

So far, Kamal looks convincing as Ray, but whether Dutta has done justice to the ambitious task of recreating Ray’s frames will only be known once the film is out. No date has been set yet for the release of Aparajito. But check out the teaser below and let us know if you would be keen to watch it when it does get released.
