Sauvik Kundu’s upcoming film Aay Khuku Aay (2022) is the story of a character that has stayed with Prosenjit Chatterjee through his long acting career.

In the teaser for the film, Prosenjit recalls how the character of a father demanded a complete transformation from his star persona and left an everlasting effect upon him.

Addressing him as Bumba uncle, a child's voice asks Prosenjit about the number of films he has acted in, while the visuals capture photographs of the different avatars he has played in Bengali cinema over the past 40 years. When he says there are too many to remember, the voice asks whether he has forgot them all. Prosenjit then remarks that some characters can never be forgotten as they become a part of the artiste's life.

He recalls that the love, joy, insults and pain he experienced while playing Nirmal, a deglamourized character of the father of Buri (Ditipriya Roy), is going to stay with him forever. As he narrates more about the story, the visuals depict the adorable bond shared by the father and daughter. The glimpses of the character going through different shades of emotions make it evident that Nirmal go through a lot to protect the sacred bond.

While Roy embodies the innocence of the relationship with ease, Prosenjit, even with the look of a haggard, middle-aged man, does sometimes fail to conceal his usual mannerisms.

Aay Khuku Aay is slated for a theatrical release on 27 May. Check out the teaser below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
