X=Prem teaser: A passionate romantic tale tinged with pain

The long wait for a romantic drama from National award-winning director Srijit Mukherji is ending.

The teaser of his upcoming film X=Prem introduces the main characters Arnab and Aditi — played by Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak respectively — and Khilaat and Joyee, who are essayed by newcomers Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Das, and promises a passionate love story in which bonds are strengthened by suffering.

In the black-and-white clip, Arnab fondly describes Joyee to Aditi, stating that she had an aura of purity; he then seeks forgiveness from her.

The viewer is then shown glimpses of the love story of Joyee and Khilaat (Sengupta) in dreamy sequences that are accompanied by the melodious number 'Bhalobashar Morshum', which has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal. The couple gets married but an accident occurs, erasing Khilaat’s memory of the past 10 years.

The visuals make it evident that Joyee tries her best to remind Khilaat of their precious moments together. While the latter feels her attempts to revive old memories are futile, she confesses that she doesn’t have any other option.

It will be interesting to see what role Arnab plays in their love story. Mukherji had promised that technology would play a crucial role in this romantic drama.

X=Prem is slated to be released in theatres on 13 May.
