This Friday, two remakes — the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey and Operation Romeo — will go head-to-head.
Jersey, a remake of a 2019 Telugu film starring Nani, has been in production for over two years now. It was due to arrive in theatres along with KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) on 14 April but its release was postponed to 22 April.
The film, which will be distributed by Pen Marudhar, also stars Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Kapur and Ronit Kamra. The director of the original film, Gowtam Tinnanuri, has helmed the Hindi remake as well.
Operation Romeo is based on the Malayalam film Ishq (2019) starring Shane Nigam and Ann Sheetal. The Hindi remake has been directed by Shashant Shah and produced by filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia’s Friday Filmworks along with Reliance Entertainment.
Pandey is looking forward to both releases. He stated, “I think it's a very good decision by the Jersey team to release the film with Operation Romeo. We welcome them. I feel there is no clash between the two as both are very different genres and will have their own set of audiences. We just hope that both the films are loved and praised by the people.”
Distributed by Phantom Films, Operation Romeo stars Sidhant Gupta, Vedika Pinto, Sharad Kelkar, Bhumika Chawla and Kishore Kadam.
