Toolsidas Junior (2022), which was released theatrically on 4 March, sees Sanjay Dutt and Rajiv Kapoor work together for the first time. The former's mother, Nargis, and the latter's father, Raj Kapoor, were one of the great on-screen pairs of the 1940s to the 1960s.

The sports drama, produced by Ashutosh Gowariker and Bhushan Kumar, is Kapoor's final film. The actor died of a heart attack on 9 February 2021.

Toolsidas Junior, which revolves around the sport of snooker, is set in 1994. It also stars actor Varun Buddhadev.

Speaking on the film, producer Ashutosh Gowariker said, “Both Rajiv and Sanjay have an iconic lineage – with legendary stars of the 1950s-1960s as parents. However, both were never cast together in their initial films. This script allowed us to bring them together and thankfully, both consented.”

Writer-director Mridul said, “In my growing up years, my dad showed me many of Raj Kapoor and Sunil Dutt saab’s films. It’s surreal to have both of their Juniors in my first film.”

In the feature, Buddhadev plays a young boy who wants to succeed in the game of snooker, and the film highlights his affectionate relationship with his father, played by Kapoor, a former snooker champion. His son wishes to restore glory to his family.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ashutosh Gowariker and Sunita Gowariker, Toolsidas Junior will be premiered digitally on Netflix on 19 April.
