Stories of dysfunctional families are in vogue these days. Most of the stories are serious in nature. But the Siddharth Randeria-starrer Gujarati movie Kehvatlal Parivar (2022) not just looks at the funny side of the subject but turns it into a laugh riot.
Kehvatlal Parivar revolves around the head of the family, Raju Thakar (Randeria), a widower who has been running a business of selling dhoklas (a Gujarati savoury dish similar to the South Indian idli) at a stall. He isn’t happy with his family. He feels his son (Bhavya Gandhi) and daughter (Shraddha Dangar) are not serious in life and that his sister (Vandana Pathak) is lazy.
Once the family organizes a puja for Raju’s late wife (Supriya Pathak), who died 23 years ago. But in a major twist she walks into the house, hale and hearty!
With this film, Randeria, director Vipul Mehta and Coconut Motion Pictures have teamed up once again after the highly successful emotional drama Chaal Jeevi Laiye (2019).
The main selling proposition of such films, besides a life lesson, is comedy and this is where the promo is impressive. The trailer is filled with hilarious moments, mostly involving the character of Randeria, as one would expect.
Bhavya Gandhi is known for his act in the long-running Hindi television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Shraddha Dangar is famous for playing the lead in the iconic Hellaro (2019). The two, along with Vandana Pathak and Supriya Pathak, ably support Randeria.
Produced and distributed by Rashmin Majithia's Coconut Motion Pictures, Kehvatlal Parivar will be released in theatres on 6 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to see this film:
