Director Anik Dutta has shared the poster of his upcoming film Aparajito, which is loosely based on Satyajit Ray’s journey of making his landmark maiden film Pather Panchali (1955), on Facebook.
The film stars Jeetu Kamal as a fictional filmmaker Aparajito Ray and depicts efforts to bring to life his project Pather Podaboli. Actress Saayoni Ghosh will be seen as Bimola Roy, a figure inspired by Ray’s wife Bijoya Ray.
The first look of Kamal as Ray created quite a buzz on social media. Everyone hailed makeup artiste Somnath Kundu’s prowess with prosthetics.
In the poster, Kamal can be seen with a vintage Arriflex 35 camera and a cigarette between his lips in Ray’s signature style. In the background is a painting depicting an iconic sequence from Pather Panchali, depicting the child characters Apu and Durga running to catch a glimpse of a train for the first time.
The release date of the film has not been announced yet.
