Sonal Chauhan will appear in Om Raut’s ambitious mythological saga Adipurush. Starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon, the film is an adaptation of the Indian epic the Ramayana.
Confirming her casting in the film, Chauhan told the website of the Times of India newspaper, “Yes, I’m a part of Adipurush and I’m excited about it. It’s a very different world from the kind of work I’ve done so far. I am sure the audience will enjoy the magnum opus that is Adipurush.”
Chauhan got her big break opposite Emraan Hashmi in Jannat (2008), a crime drama revolving around the world of cricket. She then focussed more on south Indian movies, featuring in the occasional Hindi film such as Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap (2011).
The actress recently bagged a role in the Telugu movie The Ghost, which stars Nagarjuna. She replaced Jacqueline Fernandez, who had to leave the film. The action movie is being directed by Praveen Sattaru.
Adipurush will see Prabhas, Sanon and Khan essay the characters of Lord Ram, Sita and Raavan respectively. As per the story, the film will see Sanon’s character being kidnapped by Khan and she will be rescued by Prabhas in the end. The film will be released on 12 January 2023.
