8th Rajasthan International Film Festival 2022 closes with a colourful ceremony


Sixty awards were presented across 10 categories at the closing event.

The closing ceremony and award night of the eighth Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) 2022 concluded with a colourful cultural programme and award ceremony in Jodhpur on the occasion of Rajasthan Diwas. More than 58 films in more than 10 languages were screened at the film festival.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Nagar Nigam North mayor Kunti Deora Parihar, who congratulated the organizers and appreciated the recognition of the Rajasthani language and the promotion of culture and tourism through films, all of which were seen as being beneficial to society. She said that films are the mirror of society and if films were produced that show a 'better direction', every section of society would benefit.

RIFF presented the Life Time Achievement to writer-director-producer N Chandra, who was honoured for his contribution to Indian cinema, while actor Randhir Kapoor was awarded for taking Indian cinema to new heights with the Legendary Award for Excellence. International actor and anchor Charles Thomson was conferred with the International Honorary Award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema and Television; while Sanjeev Goenka, co-owner of Filmistan Studio was presented with the Pride of the Rajasthan Award.

Lyricist Sayeed Quadri was honoured with the Hasrat Jodhpuri Award and Bollywood trade analyst Komal Nahta was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to the Business of Cinema award. Filmmaker Rahul Rawail was awarded the Best Author Award for writing the book Raj Kapoor: The Master at Work. More than 60 awards were presented across 10 categories at the ceremony.

RIFF coordinator Anshu Harsh said that the festival aimed at providing a platform to young film artistes and producers in Rajasthan so that they can do more and better in their field.
