The head honcho of Pen India Ltd, Jayantilal Gada, has categorically denied such reports that films being backed by the banner such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, SS Rajamouli’s RRR and the John Abraham-starrer Attack will be released directly online.

He said in a statement, “We would like to clarify that Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR and Attack will be released in cinemas. There have been several rumours doing the rounds about these films releasing on OTT [over-the-top] platforms before cinemas, which are untrue.”

Gada also said these films are being made keeping the theatrical experience in mind. “These magnum opus films are made for the big screen experience and will be releasing in theatres,” he said.

Starring Alia Bhatt and set in the 1960s, Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a famous madam of Mumbai's red-light district, Kamathipura.

RRR, which is the abbreviation for Roudram Ranam Rudhiram, is based on the lives of freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama and Komaram Bheem. The film stars Junior NTR, Ram Charan and Alia Bhatt. Both Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR will see Ajay Devgn make a cameo.

Directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, Attack is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir valley in the 1990s.
