Mammootty turns 70, wishes pour in from Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal and Prithviraj 


The veteran actor completed 50 years in the Malayalam film industry in August.

Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Sarath Kumar, among other major stars, took to social media on Tuesday to wish legendary actor Mammootty on his 70th birthday. 

Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal, who have known Mammootty for decades, shared videos in which they wished their friend a happy birthday. 

In his video, Kamal said, “I can’t believe he’s 70 years old. I still consider him my junior because I entered the industry before him. Keep this youth up, keep this energy up. Best wishes from one senior citizen to another senior citizen."

Speaking in Malayalam, Mohanlal said that he hadn’t seen an actor of Mammootty's calibre in the world. 

Actor Prithviraj tweeted, “I don’t have a better pic. Bcoz we always forget to take one on those biriyaani and black tea afternoons. And more than anything else, thank you for Chaalu and Surmi chechi! Happy birthday Ikka (sic).” 

Sharing a picture with Mammootty, actor Sarath Kumar wrote, “Wishing my dear friend, versatile icon of Indian cinema Mammootty a very happy 70th birthday. Inspiration to millions for 5 decades and many more years ahead. May you be blessed with good health & happiness always (sic).”

He was recently seen in the Malayalam political thriller One (2021), where he played the role of the Kerala chief minister. Incidentally, the veteran actor had essayed the role of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Andhra Pradesh chief minister, in the Telugu film Yatra (2019). Mammootty had also played a chief minister in the Tamil film Makkal Aatchi which was released in 1997.
