Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s latest film No Land′s Man, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) next month.

The international project, produced by the United States, India, Australia and Bangladesh, will compete for the Kim Jiseok Award along with the Indian film The Rapist directed by Aparna Sen. Other films include Royston Tan's 24, Wang Qi's The Bargain, Brillante Mendoza's Gensan Punch, Ilgar Najaf's Sughra's Sons and Naoko Ogigami's Riverside Mukolitta.

Iranian director Reza Mirkarimi is the head of the jury for the award. Film critics Gulnara Abikeyeva and Kim Haery are also jurors.

The film, also starring Bangladeshi singer-actor Tahsan Khan and first-time actress Megan Mitchell, has been shot in India, Australia and the US. Siddiqui is also a producer on the project while Farooki is co-producing the project with his wife, actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha.

Oscar-winner AR Rahman has composed the score of No Land's Man, which “carefully deals with discrimination and hate crimes based on race, religion, and nationality”. Siddiqui plays a man whose life is complicated after meeting an Australian girl in the US.

Last week, the filmmaker shared an update on the film’s progress.

Farooki’s Television (2012) had closed out BIFF nine years ago. His previous films Doob: No Bed Of Roses (2017),starring the late Irrfan Khan, and Shonibar Bikel (2019), starring Parambrata Chatterjee, have been selected for Busan as well.

No Land’s Man had been selected for the Asian Project Market (APM) last year.
