Pratik Gandhi's first film as a leading man in Hindi cinema will definitely cast him in a different light. Having made his mark in Hansal Mehta's Scam 1992 (2020), the actor will star in Hardik Gajjar's Raavan Leela.
The teaser of the film sees Gandhi play the mythical demon king on stage. "I am fear. I am red. I am ash. I am the fire." he roars, echoing the hubris of the mythical king of Lanka.
The scene seems to be set during a Ram Leela event, which is common across North India, where the story of Ramayana is often enacted on stage.
The film, which was earlier titled Bhavai, also stars Aindrita Ray. The film will feature actor Hemant Kher, who partnered with the actor in Scam 1992.
Presented by Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Limited and produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada and Aksshay Jayantilal Gada, Raavan Leela is touted to be a love story.
Gandhi will be seen in the second season of the Gujarati web-series Vitthal Teedi, and he has another project, Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?, which co-stars Taapsee Pannu, in the works. The actor is also shooting for the family drama Dedh Bigha Zameen.
Delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Raavan Leela is set to be released in theatres on 1 October.
