Dice Media is all set to launch India’s first-ever e-sports web-series Clutch on 1 October.
The series marks popular content creator Saurabh Ghadge's debut as an actor in a commercial project.
The 22-year-old is known for his comic sketches on Instagram and YouTube, but this is the first time he is playing a full-fledged role in a show.
At a recent virtual press conference of the cast and crew of Clutch, Ghadge revealed that he was quite nervous initially.
"This is my first ever web-series, so I was naturally quite nervous," he said. "I didn't even know what 'Clutch' actually means. I thought it's about cars or something. Then I got to know about this whole gaming scene. Even when I got shortlisted after auditioning, I was not overly excited, because I didn't want to jinx it."
Ghadge said that as the pre-production happened during the second lockdown earlier this year, the cast members could not meet and had to do their rehearsals on Zoom.
"I was also a little nervous during the virtual rehearsals because I had never done anything like this before," he said. "But I had seen everybody's work, so I managed to control my nervousness.
"Finally, when we began shooting, things became normal for me. We all became good friends during the shoot. I never felt like we were meeting for the first time. We used to chill and do a lot of 'timepass' also."
Ghadge, who is not an avid gamer, got more interested in mobile games after doing the show, "I play games, but I'm not a gamer," he said. "I play random games on PlayStation. I never played games on mobile. But after doing this show, I think I have gained a little more interest in mobile games."
Clutch is about five people from different socio-economic backgrounds who come together and form a team to win a prestigious e-sport mobile-gaming tournament. The show also stars Ahsaas Channa, Vishal Vashishtha, Pratiek Pachori and child artiste Tirth Joisher.
