Aniket Chattopadhyay's Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri will be released on the television channel Jalsa Movies on 10 October.

Starring Saswata Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Subhasish Mukherjee and Arpita Chatterjee, the film is a political allegory in the garb of a fairy tale based on two stories of Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar titled Sarkar Moshaiyer Tholey and Hobuchandra Raja Gobuchandra Mantri.

The film, produced by Dev Entertainment Ventures, was initially slated for a theatrical release and the producers have not explained why they have changed the mode of release. But on the same date, 10 October, the Dev Adhikari-starrers Golondaaj (2021) and Tonic (2021), Parambrata Chatterjee's science-fiction thriller Bony (2021), and Anshuman Pratyush's Baazi (2021), starring Jeet and Mimi Chakraborty, are also being released in theatres.

In the film, king Hobu Chandra (Saswata), with the help of his able and experienced minister (Subhasish), rules his kingdom Bombagarh wisely, treating all his subjects fairly and making an abundance of resources accessible to them.

When the king's long-harboured desire to have a daughter is fulfilled, the entire kingdom is adorned with people joining from the far corners in celebration. A stranger (Kharaj) arrives at the same time and changes the fate of the happy state while the minister tries his best to save the kingdom and its people.
