It is a coincidence that the Siddhant Karnick-starrer And Tomorrow We Will Be Dead is set to be the opening film at the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) just when the Taliban has recaptured power in Afghanistan. The film is about Talibani forces abducting a Swiss couple and the consequences of that action.
The Swiss film sees Karnick play a Taliban commander named Nazarjaan. Speaking about the coincidence, the actor said in a statement, “When we shot for the film, none of us had imagined that so much would change in the country. And Tomorrow We Will Be Dead is a story of courage and survival and I am happy to be a part of this brave film.”
And Tomorrow We Will Be Dead was shot in India, Switzerland and Spain. Karnick said that as a world traveller himself, he could connect with the film and it is close to his heart. He believes the film being chosen as the opening film at this year’s ZFF, which starts on 23 September, is an achievement for the team. “I am really looking forward to the audience’s response, more so with Afghanistan being top of the mind today,” he added.
Karnick was seen previously in Anubhav Sinha’s Taapsee Pannu-starrer Thappad (2020) where he played her brother-in-law. He will soon be seen in SonyLIV’s upcoming web-series Potluck.
