Actor Naga Chaitanya’s Telugu film Love Story (2021) has struck gold at the US box office, becoming the first Indian film to collect $1 million at American ticket windows since theatres in that country reopened after the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula and co-starring Sai Pallavi; Love Story broke into the million-dollar club in its opening weekend itself. It also became just the second Telugu film to collect over $1 million at the US box office after Jathi Ratnalu (2021).
Track Tollywood, a portal that reports box-office collections, revealed that Love Story had collected $1 million at the box office in the US.

Love Story opened to positive reviews from audiences and critics alike when it was released in cinemas last Friday. Actor Mahesh Babu took to Twitter to rave about the movie, especially about Sai Pallavi’s performance and dance moves.
In one of his tweets, Mahesh asked if Sai Pallavi has any bones in her body as he was blown away by her dance moves.

In Love Story, Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi were cast together for the first time. They play characters from different castes and different religions who fall in love. The film talks about caste- and gender-based discrimination.
The film features Naga Chaitanya as a Christian from a lower caste while Sai Pallavi plays an upper-class Hindu girl. Both bond over their passion for dance and fall in love.
Set against a Telangana backdrop, the film also features Eswari Rao, Devyani and Rajeev Kanakala in crucial roles. It has music by first-time composer Pawan CH.
