Anshuman Pratyush's film SOS Kolkata (2020), starring Nusrat Jahan, Yash Dasgupta and Mimi Chakraborty, will be premiered on the Zee5 platform on 1 October.

Also featuring Ena Saha, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Santilal Mukherjee in pivotal roles, SOS Kolkata had a theatrical release last year during Durga Puja.

The action-packed drama is built around a plot to have a series of terrorist attacks in Kolkata, recreating the 26/11 Mumbai siege, which culminates in a hostage drama on the premises of a five-star hotel.

Speaking about the film's digital premiere, Manish Kalra, chief business officer of Zee5 India, said, “We at Zee5,have always made an effort to provide our viewers with unique and entertaining content across genres and languages.”

Kalra hoped SOS Kolkata would help the platform reach out to the Bengali audience across India with a gripping story and captivating cast in a language of their choice. “While fans loved watching it in theatres, we present the premiere of this high-octane action drama for those who may have missed it,” he said.

“SOS Kolkata is a film that is close to our hearts and is made with a lot of effort and hard work” said Pratyush, glad that his film would reach a vast audience through Zee5. “The viewers are definitely going to love every minute of this action-packed, edge-of-the-seat experience.”

Dasgupta plays Zakir Ahmed, special task force leader, who conducts a rescue operation and arrest the terrorists in the film. “We received so much love from people in Kolkata when SOS Kolkata [was] released in theatres last year,” he said. “Now I am glad our film is premiering on Zee5, where viewers from more than 190 countries will be able to watch and enjoy this exciting and gripping movie.”

In the film, Nusrat Jahan, who recently gave birth to a boy, played Amanda Jones, the anti-terrorist squad head in Ahmed‘s mission. “SOS Kolkata has been a wonderful working experience for me," the actress-politician said. "I have played a very different role which is not girl-next-door. My character is an integral part of the story, and she is rough, smart, gritty and confident. So, it was fun portraying the role.”
