Shoojit Sircar's biopic of the young revolutionary and martyr Udham Singh is set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video next month.

The Vicky Kaushal-starrer was earlier planned for a theatrical release, but the makers have now opted for a digital release. The exact date has not been announced.

Kaushal took to social media to share the announcement of the film's release with a new poster.

The poster captures a foggy London scene, with a hazy road leading to the British parliament. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film also features Amol Parashar as Bhagat Singh, and Banita Sandhu.

The film, for which shooting began in 2019, was originally scheduled for release on 2 October 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic derailed that plan. The release was then pushed to January 2021. Finally the film will reach audiences almost exactly a year after its initial date.

Sircar's film is based on the life of Udham Singh, the young revolutionary who travelled to London and shot Sir Michael O'Dwyer, former lieutenant governor of the Punjab, in 1940 in retaliation for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 13 April 1919. O'Dwyer headed the province at the time of the massacre.

Sardar Udham is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.
