Taapsee Pannu appears in form in the trailer of Akarsh Khurana's sports drama, Rashmi Rocket. Featuring Priyanshu Painyuli, Supriya Pathak and Manoj Joshi, the film will be released on Zee5 on 15 October.

Pannu plays Rashmi, a young athlete who is on her way to representing India. Her approach to life as a brave, independent woman seems to be in contrast to every other girl from her village. Inspired by her chieftain mother (Supriya Pathak), she seems determined to live life on her own terms. Even when it comes to love, she picks a soldier (Priyanshu Painyuli).

The trailer takes a twist with the hammer blow of the gender test which calls into question Rashmi's abilities and the legitimacy of her participation in races. This has been a problem across international sport and has raised questions about the rules, and the need for change. The ostracization of Dutee Chand, India's current national champion in the 100 metres event, seems to be the trigger point for the story. The solution lies in a human rights case with Abhishek Banerjee playing the idealist lawyer representing Rashmi in court.

The trailer is filled with charm, passion, and some fiery moments. With an ensemble cast of seriously talented actors alongside Pannu, the drama looks promising. Even more promising is Banerjee whose presence in the trailer makes an impact. Pathak also makes an impression as the impassioned mother, who stands by her daughter.

The only flaw, perhaps, is that the trailer reveals far more than it needs to. With the set framework of the story outlined, the surprise lies in the drama and the performances. Incidentally, Shweta Tripathi and Manoj Joshi do not make an appearance in the trailer. The latter, however, is present as the voice that guides Rashmi.

Rashmi Rocket is produced by Ronnie Screwvala along with Neha Anand and Pranjal Khandhdiya.

Check out the trailer and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
