Tovino Thomas-starrer Minnal Murali to be premiered on Christmas Eve on Netflix

The Tovino Thomas-starrer Minnal Murali (2021) will finally make its way to audiences on Christmas Eve on Netflix. The makers of the Malayalam film, directed by Basil Joseph, announced earlier this month that they would opt for a digital premiere.

The feature, which is set in the 1990s, tells the origin story of Jaison (Tovino), an ordinary man-turned-superhero. Like the DC Comics superhero The Flash, Jaison is struck by a bolt of lightning, which endows him with special powers.

Netflix shared a cute Christmas-themed announcement of the film’s release and the superhero’s arrival.

Produced by Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters, the action film also stars Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan and Aju Varghes. The film has been written by Arun AR and Justin Matthews.

Tovino’s 2021 releases include Kala, which was released in theatres, and the SonyLIV thriller Kaanekkaane. Minnal Murali will also be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English.
