Popular Malayalam actor Siddique is said to have been roped in to play the antagonist in Gautham Menon’s upcoming Tamil action-thriller Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, which stars Silambarasan.
In a recent media interaction, Siddique confirmed getting a call from Gautham Menon for the project.
Recent reports suggest that Siddique plays a Malayali character named Kunjukrishnan in the film, which is about the street thugs of Mumbai. Siddique has already shot for his portions in sets erected in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Gautham, in a recent interview with Cinema Express magazine, said that Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu was his response to critics. “Ten years ago, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and make something contrasting to my style. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is my answer to all those who complain that I stick to the same elements. It will be nothing like anything I've done so far,” Gautham was quoted saying.
The film’s first look poster was recently unveiled. It featured Silambarasan in an extremely lean avatar. Apparently, he shed 15 kg for the role. The movie features music by AR Rahman.
The team is yet to announce the female lead. However, there are reports that a Marathi actress has been signed for the role.
